COREY A. SHANK
Dr. Shank is an Assistant Teaching Professor of Finance in the Farmer School of Business at Miami University. At Miami he teaches introduction to business finance and intermediate financial management.
Dr. Shank's research focuses on behavioral finance and determinants of financial decision making. He has co-authored 1 scholarly book on the impact of biology on investing decisions and published more than 10 papers in prestigious scholarly journals such as the Journal of Behavioral Finance, Journal of Behavioral and Experimental Finance, Review of Behavioral Finance, and Journal of Economics and Human Biology. His research has been covered in the financial press, including MarketWatch and the Institutional Investor and his book was a 2020 American Book Fest Best Book Award Finalist.
Outside of the classroom Dr. Shank enjoys the outdoors, traveling, and athletics. Prior to a career in academia, he pole vaulted throughout high school and college and broke the freshman national record and the Indiana state record in high school. Additionally, he won a high school national champion, was a 6 time Indiana State Champion, was ranked #2 on the IAAF World Junior rankings in 2007, and won the Gatorade Indiana Track & Field Athlete of the Year award along with placing third at the Indiana State Meet twice in the 4x100 relay.
Dr. Shank earned his Ph.D. in finance from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. He recieved his MBA from the University of Findlay and a B.S. in Finance from Virginia Tech with a concentration in investments.
